Megapolis WP – F.A.Q.

If the Megapolis WP works inadequately, first of all, it would be wise to check whether it is installed to the correct folder. All theme files and folders must be stored here: …/wp-content/themes/dt-megapolis/ This theme is path-sensitive, so it will not work properly if it is installed to the folder …/wp-content/themes/megapolis/, …/wp-content/themes/megapolis wp/, etc.

Secondly, we suggest you to check whether the folders listed below have 755 CHMOD properties set: …/wp-content/, …/wp-content/themes/, …/wp-content/themes/dt-megapolis/

And finally, make sure …/wp-content/uploads/ (and all its children folders) and …/wp-content/themes/dt-megapolis/cache/ have 777 CHMOD settings.

Please do not forget to check whether your image size does not exceed hosting file size limit. You can find it next to “Maximum upload file size:” label on WordPress uploader tab.

If these steps give no result, please try deactivating all your plugins. The problem also can be related to the temporary address of your web-site which includes “~” symbol. But do not worry, as soon as you get a common address, everything will work correctly.

Does “CHMOD” acronym sound scary to you? Do not worry about that, it is easy to do. Just follow these steps:

1. install CuteFTP or FileZilla;
2. connect your ftp using this application;
3. make a right click on the required folder, select the last item of the context menu: http://i39.tinypic.com/200ph83.png;
4. set the properties.

For theme translation we recommend to use “CodeStyling Localization” plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/codestyling-localization/ It allows to create .mo/.po files. And translate theme via WP native interface.

In most cases this may happen if a plugin that you’ve installed turned the jQuery to so-called “Compatability mode”. Try to find this line of code jQuery.noConflict(); in it’s JS files and delete it. Or contact a plugin developer.

The slider has the following size: width: 940px; height: 380px.

Please, make sure …/wp-content/themes/dt-megapolis/resize.php has 644 CHMOD settings. If it does not help, please try to apply 755 to this file.

Most probably, you need to increase maximum image width and height via Dashboard -> Settings -> Media -> Large Size. Then you will need to reupload these images again: old ones have already been resized, so you cannot affect them.

This setting is available via Dashboard -> Settings -> Reading -> Blog pages show at most: ___ posts.

In order to make your logo to be displayed correctly, you should follow next simple rules:

1. the image must have PNG format;
2. it must have transparent background;
3. your logo should be a 24-bit non-layerd image.

Our demo logo size is 382x101px.

Also, we advise you to check whether all required folders have right CHMOD settings (follow “How to set CHMOD properties?” instructions).

This message means some image had not been uploaded to the gallery correctly. It may be caused by uncommon symbols in image name, or image size which exceeds your hosting file size limitation (you can find it next to “Maximum upload file size:” tab of WordPress uploader).

To hide comments on a specific page, follow ‘WP-admin -> Pages’ and click the ‘Quick edit’ link. You will see the ‘Allow Comments’ checkbox.
You are able to do the same via Adding/Editing interface. Simply check the ‘Discussion’ checkbox in Screen Option (right upper corner). The appropriate box will appear.
